12th Rova through 19th Lamashan, 4712 AR
The pirates spend a few weeks in Senghor, celebrating their escape from the Dominator and their victory over Captain Paracountess Axia Lorvika and her first mate Kyan Kain. After feasting, carousing, and buying supplies and equipment (including messenger ravens to communicate with their contacts), they return to the seas, searching more plunder-laden ships to pirate.
The first thing they come across is another pirate busy overtaking a merchant trawler from Sargava. Identifying the pirate as Gortus Svard on his ship Devil’s Pallor , they try to lead him on that they are going to pass by peacefully, but the crafty hobgoblin is having none of that. Battle quickly comes to a head as the three ships (Dark Reaver, Blood Peacock, and The Stunning Fist) entrap the two ships among them, and soon Gortus is dead and Captain Petrel Velroon is surrendering to the pirates.
Travelling back to Tidewater Rock for rest and to finish squibbing the Stunning Fist, they enjoy the relaxation of the fortress and its inhabitants. They also sell of the Pallor and Sea Chanty, finding their holds full of plunder, enough to please many another captain. But soon, they return to the seas, looking for even more treasure and plunder to add to their infamy and prestige.
While in the deep shoals, many days from the nearest shore, they encounter a cursed ghost ship that has targeted the pirate captains and their crews to seal a devilish bargain. The Deathknell and her undead captain Whalebone Pilk have come to drag the souls of their victims to a watery grave. But Whalebone has apparently bitten off more than he could chew on these pirates as they fight their way onto his ship, while a dragon turtle, sensing an easy meal, also attacks the ghost ship.
As the others fight off the Brine Zombies and their cursed captain, Lumpy charges at the dragon turtle astride the back of Fluffy. But the fight is clearly one-sided as the turtle kills the manticore and does heavy damage to the goblin before Zhen’s diplomacy calms the beast and leaves an offer to join the crew for a share of the treasure.
After defeating the undead pirates, our group returns to Tidewater Rock, only to find that sahuagin attacked, killing a guard and severely wounding Mardus Siggs. The doctor heals Mardus, as the rest of the inhabitants prepare a somber funeral for their fallen friend. Before they can perform the ritual, however, more sahuagin boil up from the sea, intent on gaining entrance to the fortress and taking it for their own. The pirates are able to repel the attackers, however, and they discover that they are being targeted by the sahuagin’s cheif Krelloort for revenge over the death of his son.
The group decides to stay at Tidewater until they are sure there are no more attacks from the sahuagin. Then, about a week later, a group of pirates led by Isabella “Inkskin” Locke pull off a daring midnight raid on the fortress. The sorceress blasts open the main doors of the towering rock, and battle ensues as the guards fight off her men and she focuses on the party of adventurers leading them. Although brief, the battle is hard-fought and Inkskin is capture for interrogation. But upon awakening, she bites down on a false tooth, swallowing a sea urchin spike that kills her almost immediately. But the most interesting tattoo on her back proves to be a treasure map to Mancatcher Cove, and the promises of lucrative plunder for our band…
